Beautiful work, Edie. I really love your voice. Wonderful melody and excellent use of dissonance (especially on the word Caroline), which captures the off-kilter vibe of a bad relationship and of hiding the pain as you reference. Also, that decision to break it down around 1:28 or so, then pull it up again, gives it great shape. Well done.
Forgot to mention this… I’ve had some vocal problems for the last few years but things are finally improving so, I really appreciate your comment about my voice. :)
Thank you for listening so closely. I always find it interesting hearing what people pick up on emotionally and musically because a lot of those choices are solely intuitive when I’m writing. Really appreciate you taking the time to share this with me.
Great song, and I do love the "rough demo" sound. A polished finished product is nice, but there's something special about someone playing and singing into a mic without any bells and whistles. Plus having these recordings gives you bonus material for future reissues :D Keep up the great work, Edie!
Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment! I’ve always loved hearing the rough/demo versions of other people’s songs too. There’s something really human about them. I’m glad that feeling came through here. And, thank you for the bonus material suggestion. I have no idea what I’m doing. :)
Thanks so much for sharing this lovely song! Is the doc called "Caroline"? Your song makes me want to watch it - I have a feeling I've got a lot in common with Caroline as well :-)
@Chris Hedden Thank you for the restack!
Great demo, always happy to share!
Glad you liked it!

Gah, that’s hard. You’d never know. Lovely tone. I’m so pleased to hear that you're on the other side of that!
Thank you. It scared the hell out of me. So glad my voice is back.

Thank you for listening! I really appreciate it. The doc is “Should I Marry a Murderer?” on Netflix. Terrible title - great doc.
I really like the vibe. Really nice tune!
Thanks so much for listening!
I'd love to see/ hear this song evolve. Beautiful voice.
Thank you so much for listening!
